Frequently Asked Questions

How is Food is Cool different?

Food is Cool is for the early years, and uses a positive and holistic approach to nutrition education that focuses more on the how and less on the what. It uses a shared language, simple, engaging tips and tricks that are backed by science. Food is Cool uses only real images of food in our resources so children know what food really looks like. It’s creative, outside the box but all-inclusive nutrition education that’s ready to go. Over 200 pages of content, parent communication, resources and more. It includes ongoing professional development, and is the only holistic program available in Australia for the early years co-created by a nutrition expert and education expert. We offer a free club for everyone to support children’s nutrition and learning.

Is your program appropriate for homeschooling?

Most definitely. It’s shelf-ready and all-inclusive. The Early Foodi Program has everything you need to make food cool again while aligning to the current curriculum. What science is the program based on?

The Food is Cool program is underpinned by evidence published in peer-reviewed scientific journals. Dr Flav is a publishing scientist who is actively doing nutrition research, and has a special interest in childhood nutrition.

Why focus on the early years?

There is a gap in nutrition education for the early years, where food habits are learnt for life. Given children eat at least half of their daily requirements in care/school it is important that we work together. It’s no secret, the early years are the most important for building the foundations for children’s life-long learning and eating behaviour.

What is a Foodi? Do you mean foodie? What is a scool, do you mean school?

Foodi” is a play on the first 5 letters; and “scool” on the last 4 letters of “Food is Cool”. The intent is to mean ‘foodies’ or food lovers, and ‘food school’, because food IS cool! And it’s with our Foodi Scool that you’ll make it cool for children.

Children should grow up enjoying food and having a healthy relationship with food. Early learning centres can use government funding that is received every year to purchase the program at no extra cost.
